THE OPPORTUNITY

The Vice President of Finance will be a highly visible, strategic leader during a pivotal period of high growth and transformation. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the VP of Finance will serve as a key business partner across the organization—leading all accounting operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering forward-looking financial insights that shape business strategy. As a cross-functional leader, the VP will work closely with operations, commercial, and executive teams to drive profitability, operational efficiency, and innovation. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will have five (5) direct reports.

JOB DEFINITION

The ideal candidate will be a passionate, hands-on operational finance leader who is deeply committed to driving financial excellence across the organization. They will oversee and mentor a diverse team including regional plant controllers and corporate finance staff, fostering a culture of accountability, development, and continuous improvement. With a strong focus on operational partnership and cost accounting, this leader will actively drive process optimization, lead both short- and long-term forecasting and budgeting, and deliver insights that support ownership’s strategic goals—enhancing profitability, maximizing cash flow, and increasing overall enterprise value.

  • Works with the CFO in the development of financial planning, budgets and business models to determine the prospective cost effectiveness and ROI.
  • Provide insight/guidance to the leadership team on departmental planning initiatives through accounting and financial information analyses, reports and recommendations; Communicate accurate accounting and financial information, data, and metrics to help them make informed decisions.
  • Ensure the company has the proper Business Intelligence processes and controls, reporting procedures to meet operational and financial targets; provide leadership team with detailed/accurate understanding of the overall operating condition of the company; Communicate in a manner that ensures the company’s focus on the creation of enterprise value through the disciplined attention to increasing cash flow while simultaneously optimizing the operations.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on critical measurements including but not limited to revenue growth, gross profit margin, operating profit margin, net profit margin, and EBITDA.
  • Collaborating with other departments and assisting the CFO with the development of FP&A including financial forecasts that encompass sales projections, production costs, inventory levels, and cash flow management.
  • Assess current accounting operations and systems seeking ways to optimize the accounting department and implementing new processes.
  • Develop, implement, and execute aggressive but realistic annual plans targeted to increase accounting and finance efficiencies. Analyze results, initiate corrective actions, and minimize the impact of variances.
  • Develop and maintain effective, long-term relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, while maintaining compliance with relevant accounting standards (GAAP & IFRS), tax laws, and regulations.
  • Expertise in cost accounting and program line profitability analysis, leveraging these skills to identify margin improvement opportunities, optimize pricing strategies, and ensure financial visibility across products, programs, and operations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including interest rate, currency, credit, and operational risks, to protect the company’s financial stability and performance.
  • Oversee the management of current assets and liabilities, ensuring adequate liquidity to cover short-term obligations and operational needs.
  • Monitor property, plant, equipment, and technology investments, ensuring alignment with long-term strategic goals.
  • Develop financial strategies by creating a budget, forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements, identifying monetary resources, and developing action plans.
  • Analyze organization operations to find opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement.
  • Develop organization prospects by studying economic trends, revenue opportunities, acquisition and expansion prospects, and accumulating capital to fund expansion.
  • In conjunction with the CFO, represent the company and build relationships with banks, other financial institutions, CPAs, attorneys, insurance and benefits providers, and other business stakeholders.

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior-level finance positions with responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations within a multi-site organization of at least $250M in annual sales.
  • Ability to manage complex/multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Must have knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems with deep experience working with an ERP system and/or implementing one is desired.
  • Proven ability in finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Demonstrated degree of passion and energy with a laser focus on execution and results; highly focused, organized, analytical thinker who initiates as opposed to reacts.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related discipline is required, MBA is desired.
  • CPA preferred.
