Our client is looking for an experienced General Manager that will play a key role integrating growth strategies to create a best-in-class system. The General Managers responsibilities will be broad and include oversight of all daily operations of seven (7) locations with multiple sales verticals including: retail, marina/slip rental and service.  The GM will directly manage sales, financial oversight including planning and budgeting, human resources, and service. The desired candidate will plan, execute, and coordinate the business to deliver results and grow. The General Manager must be dedicated to developing people and be comfortable working in a nontraditional, fast-paced environment. Self-motivated and independent, this individual will be expected to set up operational policies and procedures, set tactical direction and structure for a multi-location organization. Candidate must be extremely hands-on and possess the ability to integrate cross functional teams, leveraging established performance and strengthening team integration.

This position reports to the Board of Directors and will have 8 functional areas reporting directly


The GM will mentor and coach the existing team to keep the integrity of the current culture intact but will thoughtfully assess the current team and the organizational structure to optimize the overall business. The new GM will create a documented strategic plan to set the course of tactical objectives, set clear expectations, manage processes and procedures to ensure accountability through a workable performance management system. Help individuals set goals and assure the team is accomplishing their individual goals. This individual must have a strong work ethic with exceptional organizational skills. It is essential that the GM builds trust within the team while keeping high performing departments performing at existing and growth levels. GM must be innovative to create new opportunities and sustainability along with implementing best practices.


This position will be responsible for running a broad scope of responsibilities for seven (7) multi-location regions. This is a customer focused culture that takes pride in exceeding their customers’ expectations by delivering practical solutions and supreme service.

  • Establishes and implements short and long-range departmental goals, objectives and policies.
  • Lead, manage and mentor the sales force; establish metrics, guidelines and performance metrics for all employees at the headquarters and remote locations.
  • Provide guidance, tactical and strategic direction to the sales team, sales training and development of the team.
  • Drive a positive and cohesive culture. Recruit, mentor, evaluate and motivate all employees to ensure an effective service-oriented team environment is maintained. Build morale and celebrate wins.
  • Help to strengthen the core business, identify further growth opportunities and help to develop and leverage existing locations.
  • Ability to leverage technology, be innovative and develop a best practice for useability and ease of access.
  • Plans, directs and manages daily operations; ensuring the development and implementation of efficient processes and departmental training to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Ability to create Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that maintain and maximize the overall effectiveness of the total company. Identify growth opportunities.
  • Ensure all department heads are fully informed of operational objectives and ensure accountability for the achievement of results throughout the company. Conducts regular meetings with department heads to ensure that priorities are clear, and coordination is good. Comfortable giving presentations.
  • Inspire growth and accountability for satellite locations.
  • Solve problems with a logical and systematic approach.

  • Seven (7) years of senior management experience involving full P&L, balance sheet, capital structures and growth responsibilities.
  • Sales experience a plus.
  • Experience in the boating and/or marine industry preferred but not required.
  • Travel requirement: Domestic & international travel to annual industry events as well as visits to retail locations.
  • Proven track record as General Manager and/or leading operations.
  • Passionate and high energy with laser focus on execution and results.

  • Successful experience with financial management.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance or management required. MBA highly preferred.
