THE OPPORTUNITY

The Vice President of Human Resources is a newly created role and provides the opportunity to positively impact the lives of employees by creating a supportive and engaging work environment. The VP of HR will interact with employees, managers, and executives; working collaboratively to meet organizational objectives. By building trust, providing guidance, and being a resource for employees and leaders, they will have the ability to drive positive change. They will contribute to the direction of the company by aligning HR strategies with business objectives and driving organizational success. The VP of HR will participate in the development of plans and programs as a strategic partner focusing on the impact on people.

This position will report to the Managing Director and have one direct report.

JOB DEFINITION

The Vice President of Human Resources will be responsible for establishing and implementing standard operating procedures, common benefits packages, and other human resource responsibilities that promote efficiency, consistency, and employee satisfaction. By establishing consistent procedures, the VP of HR will ensure that American and international employees across the companies understand and follow the same guidelines, leading to smoother operations and improved productivity. They will design and implement policies, systems, and processes related to recruitment, employee onboarding, performance management, training and development, compensation, compliance, and employee relations. The individual in this position should possess a combination of important hard skills and essential soft skills to effectively navigate the complex dynamics of managing human resources across multiple entities and ensure the success and well-being of the employees and the profitability of the organization.

SKILLS

The Vice President of Human Resources will be responsible for setting, implementing, and assessing systems, policies, and procedures. They will provide guidance and leadership to the human resources team.

  • Oversee the management of employee relations, ensuring fair and consistent treatment of all American and international employees.
  • Create, standardize, and update global HR policies and procedures to reflect best practices and legal requirements.
  • Communicate policies to employees, ensure compliance, and provide guidance on policy interpretation.
  • Manage HR budgets, allocate resources effectively, and optimize HR operations. Analyze HR costs, negotiate contracts with external vendors, and make strategic decisions to maximize HR investments.
  • Facilitate the integration of technology, provide training and support to employees, and address any challenges related to technology adoption.
  • Develop effective strategies for hiring top talent including conducting workforce and succession planning, creating job descriptions, sourcing candidates, interviewing, and helping to select the best fit for the organization.
  • Ensure a smooth onboarding process for new hires, including orientation, training, and necessary paperwork. Also manage the offboarding process when employees leave, including exit interviews and relevant documentation.
  • Oversee performance management systems, including assessing employee performance, goal setting, performance evaluations, feedback, and recognition programs. Guide managers and employees on performance improvement and career development.
  • Collaborate with executives and managers to identify training and development needs, design and deliver relevant programs, and foster a culture of continuous learning and skill enhancement to support employee growth and improve overall organizational performance.
  • Help to design and administer competitive compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they align with market trends and support employee retention and motivation. Conduct salary benchmarking, manage employee benefits enrollment, and handle compensation-related inquiries.
  • Stay updated on employment laws and regulations, ensuring organizational compliance. Manage HR policies and procedures, handle employee records and documentation, and ensure fair and unbiased practices in recruitment, selection, and promotions.
  • Develop strategies to enhance employee engagement, job satisfaction, and retention. Organize employee engagement activities, implement feedback mechanisms, and address issues that impact morale and productivity.
  • Act as a mediator in employee relations and conflicts, addressing concerns and resolving issues. Promote open communication, handle disciplinary actions when necessary, and enforce company policies and procedures.

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 7 years in HR leadership.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence, integrity, and ethical conduct.
  • Possess a deep understanding of HR principles and practices, employment laws and regulations, industry trends, policy development, benefits selection and administration, and performance management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required, master’s degree highly preferred.
