THE OPPORTUNITY

This position will be a critical focal point impacting the expansion and exposure of their business in the marketplace.  The Vice President, Business Development will be a relationship driven contributor in the development and advancement of the company’s service offerings, consulting services, mission, and goals. It is imperative that the Vice President, Business Development have exceptional people skills, a robust network, and the ability to open doors.  (S)he will be self-motivated and able to work collaboratively with cross functional teams. (S)he will also be expected to develop sales strategies that will take advantage of current industry trends and products.

This position reports to the Owner with no direct reports at this time.  However; this role will work closely with an inclusive and experienced team.

JOB DEFINITION

The Vice President, Business Development will be driven to attain positive results and will be accountable for creating new business opportunities.  Our client is looking for an achievement oriented, experienced sales leader to help grow the organization. They are seeking a rainmaker who has shown the ability to build relationships and convert them to closed business. The company is highly collaborative in the sales process and has a strong support team of product line experts.  The ideal candidate will be innovative, entrepreneurial and encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes, and solutions.  It is critical for this role to cultivate relationships and get prospects in the door.  With a high degree of adaptability, this position will create an environment that is flexible to changing business conditions to capitalize on opportunities; ensures needed information flows quickly and freely.  (S)he will build cooperative, productive relationships with internal and external clients and interact effectively with all levels of management.  This is a dynamic environment focused on multiple projects, tasks, and/or assignments that requires a collaborative sales executive who continuously seeks better ways of accomplishing work in support of their clients.

SKILLS

This position will create, develop, and execute a strategic plan to identify potential leads and opportunities to build connections for business and revenue growth. This is a true rainmaker position with the expectation to generate and capture a growing stream of new clients.

  • In collaboration with the leadership team, build and maintain a sales pipeline within the target market by developing an overall brand strategy.
  • Identify innovative approaches to improve sales, retention and implementation of on-going service in concert with business objectives.
  • Must be self-aware and effectively work with service operations to ensure open communication and feedback.
  • Presents to owner on sales planning initiatives for growth and development with new clients; interpret sales trending, activity, and results reports.
  • Work with service operations to effectively implement joint initiatives and develop/promote collaboration across the organization.
  • Must be recognized by employees as an approachable partner who understands the value of teamwork to increase productivity and overall company performance.
  • Create, build, and maintain strong relationships with internal staff, community, and center of influence partners; closely working with the marketing department to achieve goals.
  • Engage with prospects acting as liaison to promote the company’s products to meet sales target.
  • Encourage communication to promote sales education, industry trends, research skill development and operational effectiveness.

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE

  • Healthcare benefits experience a must.
  • Must have a deep network and highly involved in community.
  • Must possess empathy and understanding of the clients and staff role with a dedication to customer service.
  • Highly developed organizational, planning and management writing skills, oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Must have sales training and experience with solutions, consultative, strategic and/or conceptual selling.
  • Solid management, administrative and human relations skills in a style that exhibits maturity and leadership to “make it happen”.
  • Must be able to help develop a sale with excellent closing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and focus on delivery of exceptional customer service experiences through a comprehensive consultative, relationship building approach.
  • High integrity: ability to make sound decisions that are highly ethical.
  • Entrepreneurial; ability to work in dynamic, fast paced, and fun environment while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Must have experience working with the 50-500 employee segment and a working knowledge of alternative funded arrangements.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business management is preferred but not required.
