Our client is solutions focused and will deliver ideas to streamline and execute plans to enhance service for a demanding and changing marketplace. Offering retail merchandising solutions globally in 10 countries and with over 22,000 employees/contractors worldwide, they are headquartered in southeastern Michigan. Our client is publicly traded, growing and currently reporting $250M in revenue while supporting of some of the largest retail providers in the world.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is looking for an experienced executive leader who will play an integral part in continuing the growth and profitability of the company. The primary role for the Chief Financial Officer will be aiding in the development and implementation of the corporation’s future strategic global direction. The CFO will be an integral and essential part of the executive management team and will actively participate in the future visioning of the company as it grows both organically and through strategic acquisitions. The CFO will also partner with other members of the executive team to provide consultative support to planning initiatives and operational analyses and recommendations.

JOB DEFINITION

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the mission at hand and an interactive participant to drive profitable growth across all levels of the organization with responsibility to the future. A career history will include meaningful cross-functional experience in finance, operations, strategic planning, legal and mergers & acquisitions. In alignment with the CEO, the successful candidate will demonstrate and deliver complete ownership of responsibilities; will oversee the company’s Public filings, risk management, credit facility, tax strategy, ensuring the timely filing of all tax documents and reports domestically and internationally and M&A activities. The CFO’s responsibilities will be broad and include coaching and mentoring a collaborative team, as well as building a roadmap for success. Heavy interaction with Board of Directors, CEO, COO, Controller, General Counsel and Executive Leadership Teams.

SKILLS

Strategic Leadership:

  • Partner with the CEO and COO to refine the strategies necessary to meet the company’s goal of continued growth and enhance operational cost savings. These activities include both maximizing profitability in existing operations and identifying and building new growth platforms.
  • Partners with individuals on the executive team to provide consultative support to departmental planning initiatives through financial information analyses, recommendations of financial planning and business models to determine the prospective cost effectiveness and ROI.
  • Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
  • Advise the CEO and COO the best ways to navigate and manage in banking relationships in an atypical environment.
  • Working with the CEO and COO, explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
  • Working with the CEO and COO utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide greater financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budget.
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
  • Directly impact investor relations by analyzing and presenting financial trends, competitor behavior, economic analysis or any shareholder issue that could impact investor confidence in the company’s strategy or results.
  • Monitor, develop and adapt international growth strategies for the betterment of each joint venture.

Financial Leadership/Management:

  • Clear communication and liaison efforts between finance and operations; Proactively bring strategic finance thought partnership through best-in-class financial expertise to ongoing tactical and strategic business initiatives as well as insights from industry.
  • Develop and maintain effective, long-term relationships with all internal and external stakeholders; Travels to offsite meetings on behalf of the company will be 20-30%.
  • Review and ensure applications of appropriate internal controls, SEC, SOX compliance and financial procedures.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial management reporting data for investors and companies board of directors.
  • Engage finance committee and/or Board of Directors to develop short-term and long-term plans, projections and budgets.
  • Represent company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investor relations, public auditors and officials.
  • Remain current on audit best practices as well as international, state, federal and local laws regarding company operations.
  • Support decision making in finance, accounting, tax and credit departments with strategic financial guidance, through clear analysis that draws out key performance drivers and indicators with the ability to articulate principal findings in an actionable format.
  • Set financial and/or performance goals for each department which are aggressive, achievable and tied to long-term strategic goals; monitor department performance against performance goals to ensure that progress is being made within the organization.
  • Lead and manage, through dotted line reporting structure, international finance and accounting team.

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting is required, and a Master’s Degree in Business, Finance or Management is highly preferred. Note—-[if NOT an Master’s degree then must have CPA]
  • CPA designation desirous.
  • Must have 10 plus years of experience working as a Chief Financial Officer or Vice President of Finance.
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of International GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance and SEC reporting.
  • Understanding and exposure to NASDAQ relations and processes.
  • Financial acumen and related analysis skills, including P&L, budget planning and creation, and create accurate revenue forecasting models.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing financial strategy and supporting budget plan for Merger & Acquisition targets.
  • Proven ability to work with cross functional teams consisting of highly skilled employees.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills, including executive presence and the ability to establish and maintain rapport / trust with stakeholders at a variety of levels, both internal and external to the company.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to: present and explain complicated information in a public forum in a clear and concise fashion.
  • Proven ability to understand legal complexities.
