THE OPPORTUNITY

This position will be a critical focal point impacting the exposure and expansion of the business in the marketplace. The Vice President of Sales will be a relationship driven contributor who has demonstrated advancement of company objectives through data analysis, process implementation, and team development. They will be expected to develop sales strategies that will take advantage of current industry trends and enhance current brand management of proprietary products. This is a dynamic family environment focused on providing exceptional client experiences.

This position reports to President with four (4) direct reports.

JOB DEFINITION

The Vice President of Sales will be an achievement-oriented, demonstrated sales leader who is highly strategic and driven to attain positive results. This individual will be passionate about coaching and developing a team, using effective goal setting, while evaluating and inspiring individual and team goals that promote an engaged culture. The ideal candidate will be innovative, entrepreneurial and encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes, and solutions.  With a high degree of adaptability, this position will create an environment that is flexible to changing business conditions to capitalize on opportunities; ensures needed information flows quickly and freely.

SKILLS

This position will create, develop, and execute a strategic plan to identify potential territories, leads and opportunities to meet/exceed growth objectives.

  • The Vice President of Sales will lead the process of creating annual sales plans, targeted to increase sales volume and delivering consistent year-over-year revenue growth.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, training, and mentoring of the sales and account management teams.
  • Develop and implement company wide sales strategy and programs, short and long-range, including processes, KPIs, and underlying objectives.
  • Create individual performance objectives for sales team members, ensuring individual accountability and alignment to the company’s objectives.
  • In collaboration with the leadership team, build and maintain a sales pipeline within the target demographic by developing an overall brand strategy.
  • Identify innovative approaches to improve sales, retention, and implementation of on-going service in concert with business objectives.
  • Establish, maintain and continually enhance a sales and revenue forecasting system that provides accurate, reliable, and predictable information regarding retention of existing accounts/customers, prospects, and viable opportunities.
  • Presents to ownership on sales planning initiatives for growth and development with new clients; interpret sales trends, activity, and results reports.
  • Work with operations to effectively develop/promote collaboration across the organization.
  • Encourage communication to promote sales education, industry trends, research skill development and operational effectiveness.

Leadership and Management:

  • Drive team sales approach across the organization, demonstrating the overall process and how to integrate various departments and/or products in the sales presentation.
  • Foster and maintain highly effective internal partnerships with key departments.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures along with “best practices” for all sales division.
  • Encourage communication; facilitate staff meetings to promote sales education, industry trends, and operational effectiveness.
  • Work with other departments and/or product groups to effectively implement initiatives and develop/promote teamwork across the organization.
  • Reports on the sales and solution delivery pipeline performance-against-budget and projected future activity to the leadership team, as well as prepare/present sales reports that show current and future account performance per sales team member.
  • The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial flair, passion for business and thrive in an action-packed growth fueled atmosphere of success.
  • Must be self-aware and effectively work with operations to ensure open communication and feedback.
  • Support all business development efforts; deliver sales presentations to key customers and trade groups.
  • Attend demonstrations, trade shows, sales meetings, exhibitions, conventions and other promotional activities that may be beneficial to enhance the overall sales initiatives for the company.

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE

  • A strong sense of urgency and a proactive problem-solver with 10-15 years of progressive sales management experience with a minimum of 5 years at the management level.
  • Proven career history of selling products and/or service into the Trade/Architectural Industries or managing a sales infrastructure in Distribution/Wholesale companies.
  • Able to deliver results in a fast paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial culture, where the industry and environment is dynamic.
  • Charismatic overachiever who is dedicated, passionate, fun, organized and adaptable to a well-developed team.
  • Strong work ethic; e.g. “hands-on” leader who must be able to “roll-up” their sleeves and work shoulder-to-shoulder with all levels of the company.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills; the ability to establish and maintain rapport / trust with stakeholders at a variety of levels, both internal and external to the company.
  • Highly developed organizational, planning and management writing skills, oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Must have solutions, consultative, strategic and/or conceptual selling experience.
  • Must be able to develop a sale with excellent closing skills, offering high-touch experience and a boutique feel.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required; Business, Marketing or Communications.
