THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is looking for an experienced leader that will play an integral part in optimizing and growing the company.  The President will be responsible for the overall leadership for the company.  This leader’s responsibilities will be broad and include managing all operations and administration either directly or through internal department heads.  The successful candidate must be extremely entrepreneurial with a hands-on approach to management. Leadership and motivational skills, as opposed to dictation, are required.  It is imperative that the President is a visionary who will be involved in the business’s continuity planning and succession planning processes.  The President will be a take-charge, high energy individual who is capable of creating and managing operational processes to ensure this organization’s continued success for another three decades.

This position reports directly to the Owners.

JOB DEFINITION

  • Mentor and coach the existing leadership team. Organize resources to get things done, while using them effectively and efficiently.  Set clear expectations, design practical processes and procedures that ensure accountability through a workable performance management system.
  • Resourceful, figure-it-out-and-get-it-done mentality, with a track record of creating successful organizations without the resources and reputation of a large entity.
  • Proven track record of leading and setting a course when there is no roadmap and much ambiguity.

Business Management:

  • Plans, directs and manages over the entire company; ensuring the development and implementation of efficient processes and departmental training to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Ensure all department heads are fully informed of operational objectives and ensure accountability for achievement of results throughout the company. Conducts regular meetings with department heads to ensure that priorities are clear, and coordination is good.
  •  Solve problems with a logical and systematic approach.  Anticipate the implications and consequences of situations, take appropriate actions and analyze strengths and weaknesses.
  •  Demonstrate a progressive style that actively promotes team involvement with an emphasis on motivating, mentoring, support for innovation, encouragement of new ideas, inspire action and achieve results.
  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures.
  • Takes hands-on lead position of developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive job cost and estimating system, improving profitability throughout the company.
  • Develops and implements process improvements; i.e., project management, labor control, cost accounting, buying and inventory management.
  • Ability to create Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that maintain and maximize the overall effectiveness of the total company.

BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE

The Requirements:

  • 25 years of senior management experience involving full P&L, balance sheet, capital structures and growth responsibilities.
  • Proven track record as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer or President.
  • Successful experience with financial management of labor and operational planning costs.
  • Detail oriented with strong strategic leadership and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, written communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven creative problem-solving skills with a drive to create “solutions”.
  • Strongly demonstrated leadership and communication skills involving employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Highly focused, organized, analytical thinker who initiates, as opposed to reacts.
  • Demonstrated degree of passion and energy with laser focus on execution and results.
  • Midwestern work ethic; e.g. “roll-up your sleeves” leader, with a proven “take-charge” record of accomplishment.
  • Display stamina, energy and is committed to personal growth and development for self and others.  Proven ability to manage a fast paced and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Must have the ability to work successfully in a family business environment that has a relaxed, fluid and fun culture.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance or management required.  MBA highly preferred.
