The Company


The Opportunity

Our client is looking for an experienced and passionate leader who will play an integral part in continuing the growth and profitability of the company. The primary role of the Chief Financial Officer will be creating and managing the company’s financial position and vision. S/he will be responsible for all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to finance, forecasting, budget management, cost-benefit analysis, financing, return on investment, return on equity and return on capital employed. The CFO will be an integral and essential part of the executive management team and will actively participate in the future visioning of the company as it grows both organically and through strategic acquisition. The CFO will partner with members of the executive team by providing consultative support for planning initiatives, analyses, and recommendations.

The electric vehicle industry is booming, and they are a well-established player in it. The CFO will be the face of the company to the investor community. This is an opportunity for a dynamic and accomplished financial leader to have a significant impact on an already successful company.

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and interacts with the board of directors. The CFO has one (1) direct report and ten (10) indirect reports.

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO to refine the strategies necessary to meet the company’s goals. These activities include maximizing profitability in existing operations, raising capital, equity financing, and identifying and building new growth platforms.
  • Partners with individuals on the executive team to provide consultative support to departmental planning initiatives through financial information analyses, recommendations of financial planning, and business models to determine the prospective cost-effectiveness and ROI.
  • Navigate the capital markets and structure long-term capital plans.
  • Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
  • Advise the CEO on the best ways to navigate and manage the company’s banking and finances in a fluid and leveraged environment.
  • Partnered with the Vice President of Corporate Development to ensure investor relations are being managed effectively. The CFO will be expected to grow, build and maintain relations within the banking, investment, and analyst communities.
  • Partner with the CEO and VP of Corporate Development to advise on new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
  • Working with the CEO and VP of Corporate Development utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide greater financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budget.
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion.
  • Directly impact investor relations by analyzing and presenting financial trends, competitor behavior, economic analysis, or any shareholder issue that could impact investor confidence in the company’s strategy or results.


Financial Leadership/Management

  • Clear communication and liaison efforts between finance and operations. Proactively provide strategic finance thought partnership through best-in-class financial expertise to ongoing tactical and strategic business initiatives as well as insights from industry.
  • Develop and lead staffing requirements. Aid in the design of optimizing organizational structures and systems to ensure productivity and effectiveness.
  • Prepare and/or direct the preparation of reports, which summarize and forecast business activity and the company’s financial position and vision.
  • Develop and maintain effective, long-term relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review and ensure applications of appropriate internal controls, SOX and IFRS compliance, and GAAP financial procedures.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial management reporting data for investors and the company’s board of directors.
  • Engage the finance committee and/or board of directors to develop short-term and long-term plans, projections, and budgets.
  • Represent the company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, analysts, public auditors, and officials.
  • Remain current on audit best practices as well as local, state, federal, and international laws regarding company operations.
  • Support decision-making in finance, accounting, tax, and credit departments with strategic financial guidance, through clear analysis that draws out key performance drivers and indicators and the ability to articulate principal findings in an actionable format.
  • Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical financial operational information. Evaluate the department’s current processes and proposed changes for automating those processes and increasing working efficiency.
  • Passionate about coaching and mentoring a team. Effective at setting, evaluating, and inspiring individual and team goals that develop people to promote a results-driven culture.
  • Proven collaborator: able to leverage individual strengths to provide value to the entire team.
  • Set financial and performance goals for each department in the finance area which are aggressive, achievable, and tied to long-term strategic goals. Monitor department performance against performance goals to ensure that progress is being made within the organization.

Background Experience

  • Must have 15 plus years of experience working as a Chief Financial Officer or Vice President of Finance.
  • Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, and SEC reporting.
  • Financial acumen and related analysis skills, including P&L, budget planning and creation, understanding of pricing strategies, and the ability to create accurate revenue forecasting models.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing financial strategy and supporting budget plans for merger and acquisition targets.
  • International finance leadership.
  • Manufacturing background preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of automated ERP systems and proven ability in optimizing these systems.
  • Experience managing M&A transactions and their integration.
  • Proven career history working within a leveraged environment.
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach senior-level leaders to manage and develop high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead cross-functional teams. Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams consisting of highly skilled and technical employees.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills, including executive presence and the ability to establish and maintain rapport and trust with stakeholders at a variety of levels, both internal and external to the company.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to present and explain complicated information in a public forum clearly and concisely, leverage negotiation and persuasion skills to maximize customer satisfaction and program success, and deliver difficult messages effectively.
  • A high achiever who is dedicated, passionate, fun, organized, willing to get the job done, and adaptable to a well-developed team.
  • Displays stamina, and energy and is committed to personal growth and development of themself and others.

  • Travel to offsite meetings on behalf of the company will be 30-40%.



  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or accounting is required, and a master’s degree in business, finance, or management is highly preferred.
