The Challenge

This position will lead the business development efforts for the company within the insurance industry.  Our client is looking for an experienced and innovative professional to play an integral part in moving the company forward.  Our client is seeking an individual with a proven track record of establishing and maintaining high-quality, trusted advisor-level relationships with established insurance carriers and Fortune 1,000 risk managers.  The selected candidate will be responsible to promote the company’s restoration services nationally in select insurance carriers/markets.

Job Definition

  • The National Account Director, Carrier Services will maintain and expand relationships within the nation’s largest insurance carriers. Assigned with a select number of named insurance carriers, this position is responsible for achieving a business development quota and meeting assigned strategic account objectives.
  • This role represents the entire range of company services to assigned insurance carriers, while leading the customer account planning cycle and ensuring assigned insurance carrier needs and expectations are met by the company.

Leadership and Management:

  • Position reports to the President and the Vice President of Sales.
  • Directly responsible for the business development and account management function/effort within several national insurance carriers.
  • Utilizes internal CRM software for sales forecasts, monthly reports, summaries of customer contacts/meetings and resulting action plans.
  • Development/execution of a sales and marketing plan for all company product lines within national insurance/carrier accounts.
  • Coordinates involvement of company personnel, including support, service and management resources to meet account performance objectives and customer expectations.
  • Working with the President and Vice President of Sales, the National Account Director, Carrier Services will proactively lead a joint initiative in strategic account planning and management process to develop mutual performance objectives, financial targets and critical milestones for a one- and three-year period within specified insurance carriers.

Business Management/Development

  • Supports business development efforts by participating in targeted new account presentations, sales campaigns and proposals within national key accounts.
  • Deliver sales presentations to key customers and trade affiliate groups. 
  • Regularly meets with accounts/customers to understand all important issues, developing strong professional relationships with these key stakeholders. 
  • Attends demonstrations, trade shows, sales meetings, exhibitions, conventions and other promotional activities that may be beneficial to enhance the overall key account management initiatives for the company. 
  • Confer with customers by telephone, or in person, to provide information about products and services, to take orders, cancel accounts or to obtain details of complaints.
  • Contact customers to respond to inquiries or to notify them of claim investigation results and any planned adjustments.
  • Using the company’s CRM, keep records of customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, comments and actions taken.
  • Refer unresolved customer grievances to designated departments for further investigation.

Background Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing preferred. 
  • 12-15 years of related industry experience within the insurance/carrier industries; intricate knowledge of the property loss prevention industry.
  • A wide array of established connections with; vendor managers, procurement, C-level and clients (end users) of property loss prevention services.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work from a home office.  High integrity is a must.
  • Customer-oriented; good interpersonal skills; strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Relationship-driven, with experience communicating directly with customers at all levels within the organization, including directors, adjusters, contractors and consultants.  Proven ability to demonstrate the highest integrity within their personal and professional life.
  • Able to deliver results in a fast-paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial culture, where the industry and environment is dynamic.
  • The ability to establish, nurture and maintain excellent industry relationships that begin with a “cold call”.
  • Organized, creative; able to manage multiple priorities, stress and deadlines.
  • Strong facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving and presentation skills.
  • Ability to take quick action and make sound decisions.
  • Proven ability to handle change, pressure and criticism.
  • Must be articulate, resourceful, and creative.
  • One who exhibits patience, perseverance and persuasiveness.
  • Local, regional and national travel required – 30%+.
